Grade 6

 

 

If you are a rising 6th grade student, meaning in September 2024 you will start 6th grade, this section is for you.


Students will continue to have access to their online school programs by using their school emails and passwords:

  • IXL- Math
  • Lexia- Phonics/ word study
  • I-Ready - math
  • Duolingo - spanish
  • Blooket - all subject independent games
  • Gimkit - all subject independent games

English

To prepare for 6th grade English, students should try to complete this Summer Reading Bingo Board. For one of the books they read this summer, print out and have them complete this Summer Reading Packet.

Math

To prepare for 6th grade math, complete the following:

  1. Complete 2 My Path interactives per week (pending access)
  2. Use Ixl.com to practice the following skills: 
    1. Multiplying multi-digit #’s
    2. Long Division
    3. Add/Sub/Multiply with decimals
  3. Memorize Multiplication/division facts (1-12 tables)

Spanish

Scholars could work on the following during summer:

  1. Duolingo practice / at least 25 minutes a day to continue reinforcing their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. 
  2. EPIC / READ Bilingual books over the summer for 25 minutes. 
    1. Account is free!!! Just create one for your student and they will be able to access amazing bilingual books! 

Science

In preparation for 6th grade science, students should watch the following videos multiple times. We will be going more in depth and using these skills in 6th grade science. In addition to watching the videos, students should practice these skills over the summer.

  1. Periodic Table
  2. Balancing Chemical equations
  3. Video on Metric Conversion factors
  4. Video on how to calculate conversion
  5. Video on Coordinate planes

Geography

To prepare for 6th grade social studies, students should practice their basic geography skills. Focusing on:


They can also practice identifying continents and countries with the following games:


 

Finally, they can practice understanding what culture means with this activity and learn about their own / their family's culture through books, videos, and other mediums.
